Jacko is the name of Sir John Franklin's pet Capuchin monkey given to him by his wife Lady Jane Franklin before his departure to the Arctic in 1845.
Biography[]
She is first seen in episode 1 looking out the window as Henry Foster Collins is being lowered into the water in his diving suit and later playing with Lieutenant John Irving during the officer's meeting. She appears next in episode 3 during a flashback sequence and later when Sir John is scolding Captain Francis Crozier. She does not appear again until the end of episode 5 where Doctor Henry Goodsir tells her he needs his help. In episode 6 Goodsir begins feeding Jacko the canned food and recording his observations. Later on Jacko goes crazy and ends up killing herself. Goodsir examines the corpse and discovers Jacko died of lead poisoning. Her last appearance is in episode 7 when Goodsir pulls out her corpse and pieces of the broken jar she was in from his belongings and tells her he's trying.
