Lee Shorten is an actor of Asian descent born in Australia. He is known for roles in television series including The Man in the High Castle and Supernatural.
On The Terror: Infamy, the second season of AMC's The Terror, Lee Shorten plays Walt Yoshida.
In an interview with the website Meaww, Shorten described the philosophy of "Shikata Ga Nai" exhibited by the characters on the series, which translates as "nothing to be done." He explained that Japanese Americans were stoic on the whole and that it was difficult to express the human horror seen on the series, noting that "If you look at historic photos, you’d almost think they were just getting on with their lives. So as actors in order to be historically accurate, we couldn’t really lean into the horror of the camps in the way you might expect."[1]
