Two translators, sitting inside the center
The Military Embarkation Center was a facility in Long Beach, California, designed to prepare soldiers and other support personnel for war.
In 1943, a number of translators that were part of the Japanese Linguist Program were stationed here, prior to traveling to Guadalcanal to provide relief for Chester Nakayama and Arthur Ogawa, who were the only two translators stationed there at the time. ("Shatter Like a Pearl")
