Private Burlingham was a private with the U.S. Army during World War II. He served under Colonel Stallings.

During the campaign in Guadalcanal, he visited the tent of Chester Nakayama and Arthur Ogawa of the Japanese Linguist Program. He told them that Colonel Stallings needed to see them right away, and that it seemed serious. ("Shatter Like a Pearl")
