William Closson is a minor character in AMC's The Terror. He is an able seaman on HMS Erebus.

In The Show[]

Closson's first appearance is in episode 5. During the crew inspection on HMS Erebus, Fitzjames tells Closson to "Attend to that reading every week without fail". Later he is seen behind Cornelius Hickey in a flashback in episode 7. In episode 9, he can be seen in the background hauling the boats along with the crew, so it could be possible he died in episode 10 with the rest of the sailors.

In The Book[]

In the original novel, Closson dies from lead poisoning after he steals and eats a can of peaches.

Trivia[]

  • Closson's initials were found on a fork belonging to Sir John Franklin. The fork was brought back from Boothia Point in 1859.
