William Heather is a minor character in AMC's The Terror. He is a royal marine private on HMS Terror.
In The Show[]
Heather first appears in episode 3 as one of the marines in the hunting blind that Sir John Franklin had ordered built. He, Sir John, Sergeants Tozer and Bryant and two other sailors have their photos taken by Dr. Goodsir before they go back into the blind. Not long afterwards, the Tuunbaq attacks and kills Bryant. Heather later appears at Sir John's funeral as one of the soldiers for the 21 gun salute.
In episode 4 his skull is ripped open by the Tuunbaq and he's left in a catatonic state and the surgeons apply wax to his eyes in order to keep them shut. In episode 5 Sergeant Tozer is clipping his nails and speaking with him. In episode 6 Cornelius Hickey touches his exposed brain when they're alone and Heather is later brought to the carnivale despite his condition. A fire is started by Dr. Stephen Samuel Stanley and Tozer tries to keep Heather safe but he is nonetheless killed by being crushed by the stampeding crowd, smoke inhalation, or burns from the flames.
